Brisket

Method

Brisket Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brisket

Start by trimming excess fat from the beef brisket to ensure even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Brisket

In a small bowl, mix together kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Rub this spice mixture generously over the entire brisket, making sure to cover all sides.

  3. 3

    Sear the Brisket

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from heat.

Cooking the Brisket

  1. 4

    Cook the Brisket

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the seared brisket in a roasting pan and cover tightly with aluminum foil. Bake in the oven for about 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender. Check periodically and if necessary, add a bit of water to the pan to prevent drying out.

Spicy Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Make the Spicy Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, and minced garlic. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently until the honey is dissolved and the sauce is slightly thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in chopped cilantro.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Brisket

Once the brisket is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing. Serve with the spicy sauce drizzled over the top or on the side for dipping.
