Main Ingredients

BBQ Sauce (optional)

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Start by removing the membrane from the back of the pork spare ribs. This will allow the flavors to penetrate the meat better.

  2. 2

    Season the Ribs

Rub salt and black pepper evenly over both sides of the ribs.

Making the Dry Rub

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and ground cumin until well combined.

  2. 4

    Apply Dry Rub

Generously apply the dry rub mixture to both sides of the ribs, making sure to massage it into the meat. Let the ribs sit for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Cooking the Ribs

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).

  2. 6

    Bake the Ribs

Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs tightly with another piece of foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is tender.

  3. 7

    Apply BBQ Sauce (Optional)

Remove the ribs from the oven and discard the top layer of foil. Brush BBQ sauce over the ribs if desired.

  4. 8

    Broil for Finish

Switch the oven to broil and cook the ribs for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly.

Serving

  1. 9

    Slice and Serve

Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot, garnished with extra BBQ sauce if desired.
