Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Peaches

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Wash, peel, and slice the fresh peaches. You should have about 6 cups of sliced peaches.

  2. 2

    Mix the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1 cup of sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, ground cinnamon, and salt. Toss until the peaches are evenly coated. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Batter Preparation

  1. 3

    Make the Batter

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk until the batter is smooth. Melt the butter and pour it into the batter, mixing until combined.

  2. 4

    Add the Batter

Spoon the batter evenly over the peach filling in the baking dish. Do not stir; it will spread as it bakes.

Baking

  1. 5

    Bake the Cobbler

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve Warm

Remove the cobbler from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream on top.
