Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Marinade

In a small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, rosemary, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the filet mignon pieces in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the steaks, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover or seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for more flavor.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Sides

If using asparagus, trim the ends. Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into quarters for even cooking.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the Filet Mignon

Preheat the grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and let any excess drip off. Place the steaks on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

  2. 5

    Cook the Asparagus (if using)

While the steak is cooking, toss the asparagus with a bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper. Grill or sauté in a separate pan for about 5-7 minutes until tender.

  3. 6

    Boil the Potatoes (if using)

In a pot of boiling salted water, add the quartered potatoes. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until fork-tender. Drain and serve with butter and herbs if desired.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

Once cooked to your liking, let the filet mignon rest for about 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with the grilled asparagus and boiled potatoes on the side, if using.

  2. 8

    Garnish

Optionally, garnish with fresh herbs or a drizzle of balsamic reduction for added flavor.
