Brisket Preparation

1. Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

2. Season the Brisket

In a small bowl, mix onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over the brisket.

3. Sear the Brisket

In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.

4. Add Broth and Cover

Pour the beef broth into the skillet with the brisket. Cover the skillet tightly with a lid or aluminum foil.

5. Roast the Brisket

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

6. Rest and Slice

Remove the brisket from the oven, let it rest for 20 minutes, then slice against the grain into thin pieces.

7. Prepare Green Beans

While the brisket is roasting, trim the ends off the green beans. Boil or steam them until tender, about 5-7 minutes.

8. Season Green Beans

Drain the green beans and toss them with butter and salt to taste.

9. Prepare Mashed Potatoes

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the mashed potatoes. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

10. Mash Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add milk, butter, and salt and black pepper to taste. Mash until smooth and creamy.
