Method

Chicken Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Start by rinsing the chicken thighs under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, mix olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this mixture all over the chicken thighs, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Barbecue Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Make the Barbecue Sauce

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cooking the Chicken

  1. 5

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375-400°F or 190-200°C).

  2. 6

    Grill the Chicken

Place the marinated chicken thighs on the grill. Cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

  3. 7

    Baste with Sauce

During the last few minutes of cooking, brush the barbecue sauce generously over the chicken thighs. Allow the sauce to caramelize slightly on the grill.

  4. 8

    Rest the Chicken

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
