Muddle the Ingredients
In an Old Fashioned glass, place the sugar cube and douse it with the bitters. Add the water and muddle until the sugar has dissolved.

Add Whiskey
Add the bourbon or rye whiskey to the glass and stir gently to combine.

Add Ice
Fill the glass with ice cubes and stir again until chilled.

Garnish
Express the oils from the orange twist over the drink and drop it in as a garnish. Add the maraschino cherry on top.
