Prepare the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Mix Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined.

Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; some lumps are okay.

Add Optional Ingredients
If desired, fold in chocolate chips or berries into the batter.

Cook the Pancakes
Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake onto the skillet. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown on the other side.

Serve
Stack three pancakes high and serve warm with your choice of syrup, butter, or additional toppings.
