Ingredients for Big Iron Breakfast Sandwich

Method

Directions for Big Iron Breakfast Sandwich

  1. 1

    Caramelize the Onions

In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Hashbrowns

In the same skillet, add the hashbrowns and cook until crispy and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Sausage

In the skillet, cook the pork sausage patties until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and let rest.

  4. 4

    Fry the Eggs

In the same skillet, crack the eggs and cook to your desired doneness (sunny-side up or over-easy), seasoning with salt and pepper. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

To assemble, toast the hard rolls. On the bottom half, layer the sausage patty, crispy hashbrown, caramelized onions, fried egg, crushed cherry peppers, and Swiss cheese. Top with the other half of the roll.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the Big Iron Breakfast Sandwich with a side of hollandaise sauce for dipping.
