Method

Preparing the Patty

  1. 1

    Mixing the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shaping the Patty

Form the meat mixture into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of the patty using your thumb to help it cook evenly.

  3. 3

    Cooking the Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patty for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness.

Assembling the Hamburger

  1. 4

    Preparing the Bun

While the patty is cooking, slice the hamburger bun in half and toast it lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 5

    Adding the Toppings

Spread the burger spread on the bottom half of the bun. Add the cooked patty on top, followed by the shredded lettuce and sliced tomato.

  3. 6

    Completing the Burger

Place the top half of the bun over the toppings. Press down gently to secure the burger.
