Preparing the Syrup

Mixing the Syrup Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the high fructose corn syrup and water. Heat over low-medium heat until the syrup is well mixed and begins to warm.

Adding Preservatives and Colors
Stir in the sodium benzoate and caramel color into the syrup mixture. Continue stirring until fully incorporated.

Incorporating Flavors
Add the artificial and natural flavors to the mixture. Stir well to ensure that all flavors are evenly distributed.

Cooling the Syrup
Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the syrup to cool completely before using.
Combining with Carbonated Water

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled syrup with the carbonated water. Stir gently to mix without losing too much carbonation.
