Pasta

Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 4-6 quarts of water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pasta

Once the water is boiling, add the fettuccine pasta. Stir occasionally and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Alfredo Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Melt the Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter. Allow it to bubble slightly but do not let it brown.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

  3. 6

    Add Cream

Pour in 1 cup of heavy cream to the skillet. Stir continuously for about 2-3 minutes until the mixture is heated through.

  4. 7

    Incorporate Cheese

Gradually whisk in 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.

  5. 8

    Season the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 1 teaspoon of grated nutmeg to the sauce. Stir to combine and taste, adjusting seasoning if necessary.

Combine and Serve

  1. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained fettuccine pasta to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.

  2. 10

    Garnish

Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley over the pasta for garnish before serving.

  3. 11

    Serve

Serve the creamy Alfredo immediately while hot, and enjoy!
