Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a boil over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Once the water is boiling, add 400 grams of spaghetti. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

After cooking, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Meatball Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine 500 grams of ground beef, 100 grams of bread crumbs, 50 grams of grated Parmesan cheese, 1 egg, 2 minced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley, 1 teaspoon salt, and 0.5 teaspoon black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 5

    Shape Meatballs

Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. You should get around 20 meatballs.

  3. 6

    Cook Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Tomato Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Sauté 1 chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves until translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Add 800 grams of canned crushed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon salt, and 0.5 teaspoon black pepper to the skillet. Stir well and bring to a simmer.

  3. 9

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serving

  1. 10

    Serve Pasta with Sauce

Plate the spaghetti and top with the meatballs and tomato sauce. Garnish with additional parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
