Prepare the Tomato Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to combine all ingredients well. Allow the mixture to sit for about 15 minutes to let the flavors meld.

Slice the Bread
Using a serrated knife, slice the baguette or ciabatta bread into 1/2 inch thick slices.

Grill the Bread
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Place the bread slices on the grill and toast them for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and have grill marks. Remove from the grill and let cool slightly.

Spoon the tomato mixture generously over each slice of grilled bread. Make sure to include some of the juices from the bowl for added flavor.
