Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Ziti

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the ziti pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Sauce

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with half of the shredded mozzarella and half of the grated Parmesan. Mix until well combined.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 4

    Assemble the Ziti

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large baking dish, combine the cooked ziti pasta with the sauce and mix well. Spoon the cheese mixture over the pasta and then top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

  2. 5

    Bake

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  3. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
