Method
Prepare Pizza Dough
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- 2
Make Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Once the yeast is foamy, add it along with olive oil to the flour mixture.
- 3
Knead Dough
Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare Pizza Toppings
- 5
Slice Red Onion
While the dough is rising, slice the red onion thinly and set aside.
- 6
Prepare Other Toppings
Chop fresh basil leaves and slice green olives. Measure out the pickled chili peppers.
Assemble and Bake Pizza
- 7
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 8
Shape Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 9
Add Toppings
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or a baking sheet. Drizzle a little olive oil on the base, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough. Top with sliced red onion, green olives, pickled chili peppers, and fresh basil.
- 10
Bake Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 11
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Drizzle with additional olive oil if desired and serve hot.
