Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Spaghetti

Add the squid ink spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta water.

Preparing Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.

  3. 6

    Add Chili Flakes

Stir in the red chili flakes and sauté for another 30 seconds.

  4. 7

    Cook Cherry Tomatoes

Add the halved cherry tomatoes and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until they begin to soften.

  5. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained squid ink spaghetti to the skillet, tossing it gently with the sauce. If the mixture looks dry, add reserved pasta water as needed.

  6. 9

    Season

Stir in the chopped fresh basil and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  7. 10

    Serve

Serve the spaghetti warm, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
