Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking.

  2. 2

    Mix Cheeses

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mozzarella, parmesan, gorgonzola, ricotta, and cream cheese. Mix until well combined and set aside.

  3. 3

    Season the Mixture

Add fresh basil, black pepper, garlic powder, and salt to the cheese mixture. Stir well to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Prepare Puff Pastry

Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into squares, roughly 4x4 inches.

  2. 5

    Fill Puff Pastry

Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square. Be careful not to overfill.

  3. 6

    Seal Pastry

Fold the pastry over the filling to create a triangle or rectangle shape. Press the edges firmly to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

  4. 7

    Egg Wash

In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the pastries. This will give them a golden color when baked.

Baking

  1. 8

    Bake the Pastries

Place the filled pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

  2. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious formaggi pastries!
