Instant Decaf Coffee Base

Creamy Options (choose one)

Sweeteners & Flavorings (optional)

Packet Assembly (for making portable single-serve packs)

Method

Instant Decaf Coffee Base

  1. 1

    Dissolve coffee

Place 2 tsp instant decaf coffee granules into a heatproof cup or small bowl. Pour 60 ml hot water (just off boil, about 90–95°C) over the granules. Stir briskly for 10–15 seconds until fully dissolved and a concentrated coffee base forms.

Creamy Options (choose one)

  1. 2

    Prepare milk

Measure 120 ml of your chosen milk or milk alternative. If you prefer a warm drink, gently heat the milk in a small saucepan over low heat until steaming (do not boil), about 1–2 minutes. For a cold or iced version, use chilled milk and prepare over ice.

  2. 3

    Froth (optional)

If you want a foamy top, froth 60 ml of milk or milk alternative with a handheld frother, French press, or small jar (shake vigorously) until light and airy. Reserve for topping.

  3. 4

    Combine coffee and milk

Pour the heated or chilled 120 ml milk into the cup with the dissolved decaf base. Stir gently to combine.

Sweeteners & Flavorings (optional)

  1. 5

Add 1 tsp sweetener of choice (granulated sugar or honey) and 1 tsp vanilla extract if using. Stir until dissolved. Sprinkle a pinch (about 1/8 tsp) of ground cinnamon on top if desired. Taste and adjust sweetness or flavoring to preference.

Packet Assembly (for making portable single-serve packs)

  1. 6

To create instant packets for later use: measure 2 tsp instant decaf coffee into each empty single-serve packet or small resealable bag. If you want a premixed sweetened packet, add 1 tsp of sugar and 1/4 tsp powdered vanilla (or a drop of vanilla powder) to the packet. Seal the packets tightly, label with contents and date, and store in a cool, dry place away from moisture.

Serving & Storage

  1. 7

Serve immediately for best flavor. Leftover prepared coffee with milk should be refrigerated and consumed within 24 hours. Packets stored dry will keep for several months if sealed and kept away from humidity.
