Beef

Teriyaki Sauce

Garnish (optional)

Method

Prepare the Beef

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the beef steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Marinate (optional)

For enhanced flavor, marinate the seasoned steak in half of the teriyaki sauce for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight in the refrigerator.

Make Teriyaki Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, grated ginger, minced garlic, cornstarch, and water.

  2. 4

    Cook the Sauce

Heat the saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and bubbles. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Cook the Beef

  1. 5

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.

  2. 6

    Grill the Steak

Place the seasoned beef steak on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

  3. 7

    Glaze with Teriyaki Sauce

In the last minute of cooking, brush the steak with the teriyaki sauce, allowing it to caramelize slightly.

Serve

  1. 8

    Slice and Garnish

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain. Serve drizzled with additional teriyaki sauce and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
