Method
Sashimi Preparation
- 1
Slice the Salmon
Using a sharp knife, slice the fresh salmon fillet against the grain into thin pieces, approximately 1 cm thick.
- 2
Plate the Sashimi
Arrange the salmon slices neatly on a chilled plate.
- 3
Add Condiments
Serve the sashimi with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side for dipping.
Sushi Preparation
- 4
Cook the Sushi Rice
Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions.
- 5
Season the Rice
In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Once the rice is cooked, gently fold in the vinegar mixture while the rice is still warm.
- 6
Prepare the Sushi Roll
Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a thin layer of seasoned sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top.
- 7
Add Salmon
Place a few slices of the prepared salmon along the bottom edge of the rice-covered nori.
- 8
Roll the Sushi
Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to form a tight roll. Seal the edge with a little water.
- 9
Slice the Sushi
Using a sharp knife, cut the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces, approximately 2-3 cm wide.
