Directions
- 1
Prepare the Rice
Rinse the short-grain rice under cold running water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and will result in a creamier porridge.
- 2
Cook the Rice
In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the rice is soft and has absorbed most of the water.
- 3
Prepare the Abalone
If using fresh abalone, clean it thoroughly and slice it into thin pieces. If using canned abalone, drain and slice it as well.
- 4
- 5
Add the Abalone
Gently stir in the sliced abalone, cooking for an additional 5-10 minutes until the abalone is warmed through and the porridge reaches a creamy consistency.
- 6
Season the Porridge
Taste the porridge and season with salt and white pepper as desired. Adjust the seasoning to your preference.
- 7
Serve
Ladle the abalone porridge into bowls and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot.
