Method

Sashimi Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean and Cut the Squid

Using a sharp knife, slice the cleaned squid into thin, even pieces, about 0.5 cm thick. Arrange the slices on a chilled plate.

  2. 2

    Serve

Accompany the squid sashimi with soy sauce, a small dollop of wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side for dipping.

Sushi Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice in a rice cooker or pot according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once cooked, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved, then fold it into the cooked rice gently. Allow it to cool to room temperature.

  2. 4

    Prepare the Squid

Slice the cleaned squid into thin strips or cut into small, bite-sized pieces, depending on preference.

  3. 5

    Assemble Sushi

Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands to prevent sticking and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving about 2 cm at the top edge. Place the squid pieces in a line across the center of the rice. Roll the sushi tightly using the mat, sealing the edge with a little water.

  4. 6

    Slice and Serve

Using a sharp knife, slice the sushi roll into 6-8 pieces. Arrange on a plate and serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
