Method
Dumpling Wrappers
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, water, and salt until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Roll the Wrappers
After resting, divide the dough into small pieces, about the size of a golf ball. Roll each piece into a thin circle, approximately 3 inches in diameter. Dust with flour to prevent sticking.
Filling
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped cabbage, green onion, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Assembling and Cooking
- 4
Fill the Dumplings
Take one wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of filling in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold it in half to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges to seal tightly. Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- 5
Pan Fry the Gyoza
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the gyoza in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown. Carefully add 1 cup of water to the skillet and cover immediately. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the water has evaporated and the gyoza are cooked through.
- 6
Serve
Remove the gyoza from the skillet and serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
