Cocktail
Garnish & Finish
Method
Build & Chill
- 1
Stir the cocktail
Add 2 oz bourbon, 0.75 oz amaro, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 2 dashes Angostura bitters and 1 dash orange bitters into a mixing glass filled with plenty of ice. Stir briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full turns) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 2
Prepare the glass
Place a large ice cube or sphere into a chilled old-fashioned glass.
Finish & Serve
- 3
Strain the stirred cocktail into the prepared glass over the large ice cube.
- 4
Express the orange peel over the drink by holding it skin-side down about 2–3 inches above the glass and giving it a sharp twist to release the oils, then rub the peel along the rim and drop it into the drink as garnish.
- 5
Optionally, if you prefer a slightly more bitter profile, add a light rinse of amaro: pour about 1/4 oz amaro into the serving glass, tilt and swirl to coat the inside, discard excess before adding the cocktail.
