Method
Prepare Tuna Salad

Open and Drain Tuna
Open the can of albacore tuna and drain the liquid. Transfer the tuna to a mixing bowl.

Mix Ingredients
Add mayonnaise, chopped celery, chopped red onion, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper to the bowl with tuna. Mix until well combined.
Assemble the Sandwich

Prepare Bread
Lay out the slices of sourdough bread on a clean surface. Spread butter on one side of each slice.

Add Tuna Salad
On the unbuttered side of two slices of sourdough, evenly spread the tuna salad mixture.

Layer Cheese and Tomato
Place a slice of American cheese on top of the tuna salad, followed by a few slices of fresh tomato. Top with another slice of sourdough, buttered side facing out.
Grill the Sandwich

Heat Pan
Preheat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat.

Cook Sandwiches
Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Serve

Cut and Serve
Once cooked, remove the sandwiches from the skillet. Cut them in half and serve immediately while hot.
