Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Whisk Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

  2. 4

    Heat the Griddle

Heat a non-stick griddle or skillet over medium heat and grease it lightly with vegetable oil or cooking spray.

  3. 5

    Pour Batter

Once the griddle is hot, pour 1/2 cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake.

  4. 6

    Cook the Pancakes

Cook until bubbles form on the surface of the pancakes and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  5. 7

    Serve

Remove the pancakes from the griddle and serve warm with maple syrup, butter, or your favorite toppings.
