Pork Preparation
- 1
Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
- 2
Prepare for Roasting
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour the apple cider vinegar and water around the pork.
- 3
Slow Cook the Pork
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- 4
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and let it rest for 15 minutes. Shred the pork using two forks.
BBQ Sauce Preparation
- 5
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 6
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.
- 7
Mix with Pulled Pork
Add the shredded pork to the BBQ sauce and mix well to coat the meat evenly.
Coleslaw Preparation
- 8
Prepare Vegetables
Shred the green cabbage and grate the carrots. Combine them in a large bowl.
- 9
Make Dressing
In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper.
- 10
Combine and Serve
Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrots, and mix well. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes before serving for best flavor.
