Method

Preparation of Brisket

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. 2

    Season the Brisket

Pat the brisket dry with paper towels. Rub it generously with salt and black pepper on all sides.

Making BBQ Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 4

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once simmering, reduce heat to low and let it cook for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Cooking the Brisket

  1. 5

    Prepare for Roasting

Place the seasoned brisket in a roasting pan and pour half of the BBQ sauce over the top, spreading it evenly.

  2. 6

    Cover and Cook

Cover the brisket tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Roast for 4-5 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.

  3. 7

    Final Touch

Remove the foil during the last hour of cooking to allow the top to caramelize and develop a nice crust.

Serving

  1. 8

    Slice the Brisket

Once cooked, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes. Then slice against the grain.

  2. 9

    Add Toppings

Serve the sliced brisket on a platter, topped with the remaining BBQ sauce, sliced onions, and pickles.
