Method
Prep Meat
- 1
Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Cook Pork

Prepare Cooking Liquid
In a saucepan, combine the apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the brown sugar dissolves.
- 3
Slow Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour the prepared cooking liquid over the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
Shred and Serve

Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.

Assemble Sandwiches
Place a generous portion of pulled pork onto the bottom half of each hamburger bun. Top with coleslaw and BBQ sauce if desired. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
