Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the corn masa flour, warm water, salt, and vegetable oil. Mix until a smooth dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add more water a tablespoon at a time.

  2. 2

    Shape the Tepozan

Divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Flatten each ball into a disc and place a tablespoon of cheese and cilantro in the center. Fold the disc over and pinch the edges to seal completely.

  3. 3

    Cook the Tepozan

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the shaped tepozan in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  4. 4

    Serve

Serve hot with a squeeze of lime juice on top and additional cilantro if desired.
