Method

Preparing the Coffee

  1. 1

    Brew the Coffee

Brew 1 cup of strong espresso or coffee. If desired, mix in 1 tablespoon of coffee liqueur for added flavor. Allow the coffee to cool to room temperature.

Making the Filling

  1. 2

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a mixing bowl, separate the egg yolks and whites. Beat the egg yolks with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

  2. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture. Mix until smooth and well combined.

  3. 4

    Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  4. 5

    Fold Together

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, making sure not to soak them. Place a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of a serving dish.

  2. 7

    Layer the Filling

Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the layer of ladyfingers.

  3. 8

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone filling.

  4. 9

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

Finishing Touches

  1. 10

    Dust with Cocoa

Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder. If desired, garnish with dark chocolate shavings.

  2. 11

    Serve

Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your classic tiramisu!
