Method
Preparing the Coffee

Brew the Coffee
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso or coffee. If desired, mix in 1 tablespoon of coffee liqueur for added flavor. Allow the coffee to cool to room temperature.
Making the Filling

Prepare the Egg Mixture
In a mixing bowl, separate the egg yolks and whites. Beat the egg yolks with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

Combine Ingredients
Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Fold Together
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Assembling the Tiramisu

Dip the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, making sure not to soak them. Place a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of a serving dish.

Layer the Filling
Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the layer of ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone filling.

Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Finishing Touches

Dust with Cocoa
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder. If desired, garnish with dark chocolate shavings.
