Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Pat the ribeye steak dry with paper towels. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, and garlic powder evenly on both sides of the steak. Rub the seasoning into the meat gently. Allow the steak to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to enhance the flavor.

Grilling

  1. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, around 450°F (232°C). If using a charcoal grill, prepare the coals until they are covered with gray ash.

  2. 3

    Oil the Grill Grates

Using a paper towel dipped in olive oil, carefully oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.

  3. 4

    Grill the Steak

Once the grill is hot, place the ribeye steak on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side for medium-rare, without moving the steak. Flip the steak and grill for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side.

  4. 5

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should read 130°F (54°C). Adjust cooking time as necessary for your desired doneness.

Resting

  1. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

After resting, slice the ribeye steak against the grain and serve it hot with your favorite sides.
