Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients to ensure you have everything ready for assembly.

  2. 2

    Heat the Corned Beef

In a skillet over medium heat, warm the corned beef for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until heated through.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Sauerkraut

Drain the sauerkraut from the can and rinse it under cold water. Squeeze out any excess liquid.

  4. 4

    Cook French Fries

Prepare French fries according to package instructions until golden brown and crispy.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

Lay two slices of rye or raisin bread on a clean surface. Layer the corned beef evenly on one slice, followed by the sauerkraut and then the Swiss cheese.

  2. 6

    Top and Grill

Place the second slice of bread on top to form a sandwich. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little butter if desired. Grill the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden and the cheese has melted.

  3. 7

    Serve

Slice the sandwich in half and serve it hot with French fries on the side and a small bowl of thousand island dressing for dipping.
