Method

Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into a patty about 4 inches in diameter and 3/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the beef patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until it reaches your desired doneness.

Grilled Onions

  1. 3

    Slice the Onion

Peel and slice the onion into thin rings.

  2. 4

    Grill the Onions

In the same skillet used for the patty, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and caramelized.

Patty Melt Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Patty Melt

In the skillet, lower the heat to medium-low. Butter one side of each slice of rye bread. Place one slice of bread in the skillet, butter-side down. Top with the cooked burger patty, grilled onions, and two slices of cheddar cheese.

  2. 6

    Cook the Sandwich

Top with the second slice of rye bread, butter-side up. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom slice is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until both sides are golden and the cheese is melted.

French Fries

  1. 7

    Prepare the French Fries

Cook the frozen French fries according to package instructions, typically by baking or frying until golden brown and crispy.

  2. 8

    Season the Fries

Remove from heat and season with salt to taste before serving.
