Method
Mushroom Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Mushrooms
Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Remove the stems if desired, but leave the caps whole.
- 2
Prepare the Breading Station
In a shallow bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
- 3
Bread the Mushrooms
Dip each mushroom cap into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Ensure each mushroom is well-coated.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large frying pan or deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Mushrooms
Carefully add the breaded mushrooms to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- 6
Drain the Mushrooms
Once fried, use a slotted spoon to transfer the mushrooms to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving
- 7
Serve with Dressing
Plate the fried mushrooms and serve with your choice of dressing on the side. Enjoy!
