Preparing the Steak

Tenderizing the Steak
Using a meat mallet, tenderize the beef round steaks until they are about 1/2 inch thick.

Seasoning the Steak
In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well.

Heating the Oil
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

Frying the Steaks
Carefully place the coated steaks into the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

Making the White Gravy

Using the Drippings
In the same skillet, leave about 2 tablespoons of oil drippings. Add 1 cup of all-purpose flour and whisk over medium heat.

Cooking the Flour
Cook the flour for about 2-3 minutes until it turns a light golden color.

Adding Milk
Slowly whisk in 2 cups of milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to whisk until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

Add salt and black pepper to taste, and continue to stir until well combined.
