Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Mix Batter
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Gradually stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.

Bake the Cake
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cake
Once baked, let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the semi-sweet chocolate and unsalted butter together, stirring until smooth.

Prepare for Assembly
Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly before using it as the molten center in the cooled cakes.
Assembly

Assemble the Cake
Place one layer of the cooled cake on a serving plate. Carefully pour the molten chocolate mixture over the center of the cake, allowing it to seep in.

Top with Second Layer
Place the second layer of the cake on top of the first layer, gently pressing down to secure it.

Slice and serve the cake warm to enjoy the molten center.
