Method

Hamburger Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions (6 oz each) and shape them into patties.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Toppings Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté the Onions

Thinly slice the onion and sauté it in the same skillet used for the patties until caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Cheese

Place a slice of American cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the skillet to help melt the cheese.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 6

    Prepare the Bread

Toast the rye bread slices lightly if desired.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

On one slice of rye bread, place the lettuce, followed by a patty with melted cheese and sautéed onions. Top with sliced tomatoes and cover with the second slice of rye bread.

Prepare French Fries

  1. 8

    Cook the Fries

Follow the package instructions to cook the frozen French fries until golden and crispy.
