Method

Preparing the Ribs

  1. 1

    Season the Ribs

Pat the pork baby back ribs dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring they are evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Prepare Slow Cooker

Place the seasoned ribs into the slow cooker, curling them around if necessary to fit.

Making the BBQ Sauce

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, mustard, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Stir well to combine.

  2. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Allow the sauce to cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

Cooking the Ribs

  1. 5

    Slow Cook the Ribs

Pour half of the prepared BBQ sauce over the ribs in the slow cooker, making sure they are well coated. Reserve the other half for later use. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the ribs are tender and easily pull away from the bone.

  2. 6

    Finishing Touch

Once cooked, remove the ribs from the slow cooker and brush them with the remaining BBQ sauce. Optionally, you can broil them in the oven for 3-5 minutes to caramelize the sauce slightly.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before cutting them into portions. Serve hot with additional BBQ sauce on the side.
