Method

Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Form into two equal patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

Candied Bacon

  1. 3

    Prepare the Bacon

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 4

    Candy the Bacon

In a bowl, mix brown sugar and maple syrup. Dip each bacon strip in the mixture and place it on the baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until crispy.

BBQ Sauce

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

Slaw

  1. 6

    Prepare the Slaw

In a bowl, shred the red cabbage and carrot. Add mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.

Fried Pickles

  1. 7

    Prepare the Pickles

Set up a breading station with flour, cornmeal, beaten egg, and milk in separate bowls.

  2. 8

    Fry the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice in flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally in cornmeal. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry the pickles for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Burger Assembly

  1. 9

    Assemble the Burger

Toast the pretzel buns lightly. Place a burger patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a slice of smoked Cheddar, a few pieces of candied bacon, BBQ sauce, slaw, and fried pickles. Cover with the top half of the bun.
