Preparation of Ingredients

Prepare Fish
Pat the Atlantic Cod fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Prepare Potatoes
Peel and cut the potatoes into thick fries. Rinse in cold water to remove excess starch and pat dry.
Making the Batter

Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Fry the Potatoes
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the fries in batches and fry for about 5-8 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels, seasoning with salt to taste.

Batter and Fry Fish
Dip each seasoned fish fillet into the batter until fully coated. Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serving

Plate and Serve
Serve the battered fish hot with fries on the side. Add lemon wedges and tartar sauce for dipping.
