Method
For the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Prepare the Battering Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure even distribution of dry ingredients.
- 2
Add Beer
Gradually add the beer to the dry mixture, stirring gently until a thick batter forms. Avoid over-mixing; some lumps are fine.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Dip the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully dip each mozzarella stick into the batter, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- 5
Fry the Sticks
Once the oil is hot, gently place the battered mozzarella sticks into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- 6
Drain and Top with Cheese
Remove the fried mozzarella sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle shredded cheese on top while they are hot.
For the Marinara Sauce

- 8
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the saucepan. Stir to combine.
- 9
Simmer
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- 10
Garnish and Serve
Before serving, garnish the marinara sauce with fresh chopped basil.
