Waffle and Toppings

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Waffles

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the milk and melted butter. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Preheat the waffle iron and pour the batter onto the iron. Cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden brown.

  2. 2

    Cook the Chicken Tenders

Heat cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken tenders and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Remove from skillet and let rest before slicing.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Sausage Gravy

In the same skillet, crumble the sausage and cook until browned. Sprinkle in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Slowly whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer. Cook until the gravy thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with black pepper to taste.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Dish

Place a waffle on a plate, top it with sliced chicken tenders, and pour sausage gravy over the top. Serve immediately.
