Biscuits and Sausage Gravy

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Biscuits

Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Roll out to 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds.

  2. 2

    Bake the Biscuits

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Sausage Gravy

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine. Gradually add the milk while stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Cook until the gravy thickens. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.

  4. 4

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate pan, fry or scramble the eggs to your liking.

  5. 5

    Serve

Split the biscuits in half and ladle the sausage gravy over the top. Serve with cooked eggs on the side.
