Method
Brewing Process
- 1
Mashing
Heat 5 gallons of water to about 165°F (74°C). Add the malted barley and corn, and hold the temperature at approximately 150°F (65°C) for 60 minutes.
- 2
Lautering
After mashing, drain the liquid (wort) from the grains into a kettle and rinse the grains with hot water to extract more sugars.
- 3
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil and add the hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding more hops if desired for bitterness.
- 4
Cooling
After boiling, cool the wort rapidly to about 75°F (24°C) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.
- 5
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel, add the yeast, and seal with an airlock. Let it ferment for about 1-2 weeks at room temperature.
