BURGERS

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Finely chop the onion and garlic. Rinse and drain the black beans. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Brown the Beef

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the Hereford beef and season with salt and black pepper. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Aromatics

Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.

  4. 4

    Season the Mixture

Stir in the chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until the spices are well combined and fragrant.

  5. 5

    Combine Ingredients in Slow Cooker

Transfer the beef mixture to a slow cooker. Add the black beans and beef broth. Stir to combine all ingredients.

  6. 6

    Slow Cook the Chili

Cover the slow cooker and set it on low heat. Cook for 6-8 hours or until the beef is tender and the flavors meld together.

  7. 7

    Finish and Serve

Once cooked, taste and adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if needed. Stir in fresh cilantro just before serving. Serve hot.
