Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Broth

In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Anchovy and Tomato

Stir in the anchovy paste and tomato paste, mixing well to combine with the garlic and ginger. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine Liquids

Pour in the water and soy sauce. Add the red chili flakes for spice. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

  4. 4

    Add Turnip

Once the broth is simmering, add the diced turnip. Let it cook for about 10 minutes, or until the turnip becomes tender.

  5. 5

    Add Halibut

Gently place the halibut fillets into the pot, ensuring they are submerged in the broth. Cover and cook for about 8-10 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

  6. 6

    Finish with Chrysanthemum

Add the fresh chrysanthemum leaves to the pot in the last couple of minutes of cooking. Stir gently to wilt the leaves.

  7. 7

    Season and Serve

Taste the broth and season with salt and pepper as needed. Serve hot in bowls, garnished with additional chrysanthemum leaves if desired.
