Base

Method

Base

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place the champagne flute or coupe in the fridge for at least 10 minutes before serving, or fill with ice water for 2–3 minutes then discard the ice water. A chilled glass keeps the bubbles lively.

  2. 2

    Measure orange juice

Pour 3 oz (about 90 ml) of freshly squeezed and strained orange juice into the chilled flute. Fresh juice is preferred for aroma and sweetness balance.

  3. 3

    Add sparkling wine

Gently tilt the glass at a 45° angle and slowly pour 3 oz (about 90 ml) of chilled champagne or dry sparkling wine down the side to preserve carbonation. Pouring slowly prevents overflow.

  4. 4

    Optional liqueur

If using orange liqueur, measure 1/2 tablespoon (0.5 tbs) and add it to the glass before the sparkling wine for better integration. Stir gently once with a bar spoon if needed.

Optional flavor & garnish

  1. 5

    Sweeten if needed

Taste the Mimosa. If the orange juice is tart and you prefer sweeter, stir in up to 1/4 teaspoon simple syrup and mix gently with a spoon.

  2. 6

    Garnish and finish

Garnish the rim with an orange wheel or a thin orange twist. Optionally slap a mint sprig between your palms to release aroma and tuck it alongside the garnish. Serve immediately to preserve bubbles.

Tools & serving

  1. 7

Serve the Mimosa immediately after assembling. Do not add ice to the flute (it will dilute and flatten the drink). Provide a small spoon for guests who added liqueur or syrup to gently stir if desired.
