Clean the Mussels
Rinse the fresh mussels under cold water. Scrub the shells with a brush to remove any dirt or barnacles. Remove the beards (the fibrous strands) by pulling them away from the shell.

Prep the Aromatics
Mince the garlic cloves and finely chop the shallot. Set aside.

Chop the Parsley
Roughly chop the fresh parsley and set aside for garnish.

Add Liquids
Pour in the dry white wine and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Cook the Mussels
Add the cleaned mussels to the pot. Cover with a lid and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels open. Discard any mussels that remain closed.

Season the Sauce
Once the mussels are cooked, season with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in the chopped parsley.
Serving

Plate and Serve
Transfer the cooked mussels to a serving dish, spooning the garlic and wine sauce over them. Garnish with additional parsley if desired. Serve hot with crusty bread or over pasta.
